Immortal IPA Clone (sort of)
Today I unveil my first ever clone beer - sort of. My neck of the woods is expriencing a shortage of hops, so even though I had a sanctioned recipe of the Elysian Immortal IPA (taken directly from their website) I couldn't hit it exactly right. No matter, with a few substitutions I had achieved something, if not immortal, then pretty damn close. I've posted the recipe in the magins for the sanctioned recipe and my variation.
Here's the basics following BJCB guidelines: Original Gravity 1.062, Final Gravity 1.004, Plato 15.17, ABV 7.63%, IBU's 75.5. Mashed 90 minutes at 149 F, closed primary fermentation 10 days, closed secondary 24 days. Results? Tasty!
I'll certainly be brewing this one again, hopefully with the exact ingredients-but now it's time for a pint. Cheers!
